Psychological Support for Anxiety

Anxiety therapy in Ringwood East at b.psychology provides evidence-based psychological support for adults experiencing persistent worry, panic, or social anxiety. Our registered clinical psychologists utilise targeted interventions to help individuals manage physical symptoms and cognitive patterns of anxiety.

Who is this for?

We provide clinical support for adults managing:

  • • Persistent, intrusive worry or generalised anxiety
  • • Panic attacks and acute physical stress responses
  • • Social anxiety and performance-related distress
  • • Obsessive-compulsive presentations

Our Clinical Approach

Led by clinicians experienced in emotional regulation, including Jessica, our team utilises Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Mindfulness-based therapies to empower clients to manage dysregulation and improve their daily functioning.

What We Can Help With

Our psychologists are experienced in supporting adults and young people with a range of anxiety-related concerns, including:

Generalised Anxiety (GAD)

Persistent, excessive worry about everyday events, health, or family safety.

Panic Attacks

Sudden waves of intense fear or physical discomfort (racing heart, shortness of breath).

Social Anxiety

Fear of judgment, criticism, or embarrassment in social situations.

High-Functioning Anxiety

Outwardly successful and organised, but internally driven by fear of failure or perfectionism.

Overthinking

Being stuck in repetitive thought loops that are difficult to switch off.

Phobias & Avoidance

Specific fears that limit where you go or what you do (e.g., driving, flying).

How We Work With Anxiety

We believe therapy isn’t just about "managing symptoms"—it’s about understanding the underlying patterns that keep anxiety alive. Our approach is grounded in connection and evidence-based practice.

Depending on your unique needs, we may draw on:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT): To identify and shift unhelpful thought patterns.
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): To help you unhook from difficult thoughts and live in line with your values.
  • Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT): To explore and change unhelpful relationship patterns and ways of coping.
  • Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy: To explore unconscious patterns, attachment dynamics, and deeper aspects of identity that shape how you relate to yourself and others.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a referral?

You do not need a referral to book an appointment. However, if you have a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from your GP, you are eligible for a Medicare rebate for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.

Will therapy make my anxiety go away completely?

The goal of therapy isn't necessarily to eliminate anxiety (which is a natural human emotion) but to change your relationship with it. We aim to reduce the intensity of your symptoms so that anxiety no longer dictates your choices or limits your life.
